Who’s making the Playoffs? Part 5

We have, so far, analyzed Yankees and Mets, Cubs and White Sox, the Red Sox and the Phillies. Now, we are going to the AL Central and looking at the Minnesota Twins, and their chances of making the playoffs.
Ever since they dealt away Santana in the past Winter, many thought they wouldn’t have a chance of making the playoffs, not without their ace. However, they have proved many wrong because they are only 2 games behind the White Sox for the pennant, and 3 back in the Wild Card race.
The Twins are led by a pretty good offense in Carlos Gomez, Justin Mourneau, and their All-Star catcher, Joe Mauer. Mauer is batting .326 and Morneau is batting .310, while Gomez is second on the team in hits, with 93.
Their pitching staff is not too bad either with Livan Hernandez, Nick Blackburn, Scott Baker, and Kevin Slowey. Of course, they have their excellent closer, Joe Nathan who converted 23 out of 25 save opportunities.
The Twins are rather known for their second half surge, so if they can play really good baseball in the second half of the season, I think they would have a pretty good chance of making the playoffs.
