Rumor: Beltran may not be a Met for much longer
Mets star out fielder, Carlos Beltran, may soon be traded to another team. Although, this is just a rumor, he may not be traded. Basically, the Mets are looking to dump his salary, as he has a big contract. His defense is stellar, yet his offense has been less than impressive.
The Mets also want their prized minor leaguer, Fernando Martinez to join them, as they feel he can be a valuable contributor. One of the key problems with the Mets is their offense, as it has always been streaky. Their starting rotation has looked like it’s settled down, and all that’s left is offense and bullpen.
Beltran originally signed a 7 year deal back in 2005 for $119 million. He has 3 years left on his contract. It’s possible someone might take him, and the Mets would get good prospects in return. Stay tuned to see if this develops further.
