Ever since Matsui had to go on the DL, and Posada’s throwing arm has never been the same, the Yankee lineup has been encountering some problems. One of the main problems I noticed in the recent games is that many runners are stealing on Posada. Yesterday, for example, against the Texas Rangers, they stole 4 bases in total, and 3 were stolen by Ian Kinsler. If this many runners are getting into scoring position by stealing bases, something has to be done, otherwise they will be driven in.
To fix this, I think Molina, who is a much better defensive catcher, should catch all night games and then have Posada catch the day games. Now, Posada is a valuable bat, even if he isn’t producing much right now, so I was thinking of putting him at first base and then let Giambi DH. Since Matsui is on the DL right now, we have the DH slot open. Or, Giambi could play first and Posada can DH.
Then in the outfield, it would be Damon, Cabrera, and Abreu. And the days that Damon can’t play due to foot aches, we can let the rookie, Gardner or Christian play left field. I think this is something that has to be done, at least until Matsui can come back. The Yankees can’t allow too many runners to steal on them otherwise they will lose a lot of games. Posada needs to get his throwing arm back otherwise Molina is going to have to play.

i feel pretty much the same way about your infield, but idk abreu pisses me off. He’s a great hitter, don’t get me wrong, but he really needs to work on defense. He’s terrified of walls! He’s gotten sooooo used to playing the ball off the wall that once he gets to the warning track he just stops. It’s really irritating. Right field is a huge part of the stadium and there are soooo many lefties in the major leagues. We need a strong defensive right fielder. I think Girardi should put Melky in right for often, let Abreu switch the dh around with jorge and giambi. See how that works. We have plenty of young talented rookies sitting on the bench and in the minors and they would do a great job filling in spots in the outfield. Girardi should give them a chance
