McBride returns to play for hometown team

The 36 year-old Chicago, Illinois native, Brian McBride, was traded by the Toronto FC today to the Chicago Fire in exchange for Chad Barrett and a 1st-round draft pick in 2009.

McBride returns to the MLS after playing most of his career in Europe, most recently Fulham of the English Premier League. McBride is still a wonderful striker even though he is getting older. This is the type of player Chicago needs.

McBride has played 4 seasons in the MLS before with the Columbus Crew.

Toronto also get what they need with a young striker in Chad Barrett. Barrett currently has 5 goals this year and is expected to help with a poor Toronto offense. Toronto also received a 1st-round pick along with the 23-year old Barrett so the future is looking pretty bright in Toronto.

All in all, it is a win-win trade for both teams.
