… My Brett Favre’s back and he’s better than ever. Sounds like something John Madden (Frank Caliendo) would say, but now that Favre looks to actually be back, what will happen to the world as we know it if he did not return to play for the Packers.
Some would say the apocalypse, but I am psyched to see what happens to Brett Favre. If he goes to the Vikings, he would have a chance to go to the playoffs, beat the Packers in Lambeau on Monday night on the first game of the season (a game that was supposedly meant for the retirement of Favre’s jersey), and show up Aaron Rodgers in the process.
If he stays a Packer, and becomes a backup which the Packers supposedly claim he will be, it will be immense pressure on Rodgers, a first year starter, who will have a legend constantly looking over his shoulder. It would seem unlikely that this would happen, as Brett would probably not accept being a backup.
Brett has asked for his release, but the Packers say they will not release him and have not heard trade inquiries from any team. The Packers claim Brett could play for the Packers in some capacity, but that is yet to be known.
Whatever happens with Brett Favre, all I know is I’m rooting for the interesting. Playing for the Vikings would bring more drama than Lindsay Lohan walking into an elementary school… naked. Favre playing for any team besides the Packers might not seem right, but it would be much more interesting. The Packers no longer want or need Favre, and Favre doesn’t want the Packers either.
