Breaking News: Ken Griffey Jr. to White Sox

With the MLB trade deadline approaching, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. has approved of a trade that would send him to Comiskey Park; in return, the Cincinatti Reds will acquire pitcher Nick Masset and infielder Danny Richar.

The 25-year old Richar came to the White Sox from Arizona in a trade for outfielder Aaron Cunningham back in June 2007 while Masset, the former Texas Ranger, came to Chicago in December 2006 as part of the John Danks-Brandon McCarthy trade. Masset is 1-0 with a 4.63 ERA in 32 relief appearances for Chicago this year.

As for the 38-year old Griffey, he is hitting .245 with 15 home runs for Cincinnati this season. On June 9 of this year, he became only the sixth player in MLB history to hit six hundred career home runs.

  1. wow Griffey in the AL now. he will finally be in a playoff race. he really hasnt been in one since the Mariners. he deserves, near the end of his career, to play in the postseason and he will definetly be a playoff threat.
